The organization now known as CEO Focus was formed in 2001. Starting with a single group in Indianapolis, the organization has grown to over 25 cities in North America. CEO Focus started with a simple philosophy: business owners learn best from other business owners. We believe in the power of peer consulting and Peer Advisory Groups.
This starts with the founder of CEO Focus, Jim Muehlhausen. In 1994, he joined a CEO group while running a manufacturing company. The company was doing well, but he found himself struggling with growth issues, no one to talk to, and constantly re-inventing the wheel. His positive experience in this peer group created his desire to form CEO Focus.
Our average membership longevity is well over four years nationally – twice the industry average. This demonstrates the long-term value of our service. Our Peer Advisory Group Members are diverse in their background, experience, and skills, with as few as 10 employees to over 1000. They serve customers across the United States and around the globe in the following types of businesses: Architectural Metal, Distributor, Commercial Electrical Services, Equipment Sales & Service, Facilities Cleaning Services, Facilities Engineering Services, Home/Business Restoration, Manufacturing, Roofing, Software Solutions, and Wealth Management.
In addition to the camaraderie experienced with other Members, you will grow in thinking like an outside board director. Thus, you develop more strategic, analytical, and process-driven business practices. As a Peer Advisory Group Member, you also have the opportunity to meet our extended family of CEO Focus Members and Franchisees at our National Client Retreat.
Our Mission is to improve lives through business. We understand that your business impacts much of your life and good business equals a good life. A bad business makes for a challenging home life. By creating the best possible business for our Members, we create a more meaningful whole-life experience.
Our Vision is to help you find and achieve yours.
Accountability: To You (our Client) and to the Group (all Clients within each Peer Advisory Group).
Commitment: Meaningful changes do not happen overnight. Our approach considers your long-term goals and priorities, while also focusing on building blocks common across business.
Diversity: We have found that experiences from different backgrounds and multiple industries foster a variety of viewpoints and avoids “inbred thinking” of like businesses.
Learning: While we and the Group bring significant expertise, we also know that any change requires openness to new information. We are open to new ideas and methods, while focusing on results.
Performance: We strive to help You achieve the priorities You set for your business. We expect a significant Return on Investment (ROI).
Transparency: We value your time and can best help You when we understand your situation. We hold all information concerning Members in strict confidence.
If you are not committed to working on the tough issues facing your business, CEO Focus is not for you. If you do not have a strong desire to do the uncomfortable things that will accompany your commitment, CEO Focus is not for you. If you do not have the humility to say, "I don't know all the answers," as well as the willingness to get outside input, CEO Focus is not for you. Lastly, you must be able to justify that the cost of membership is less than the gains you will receive. If these are present, the ROI takes care of itself. Many of our members stay for many years. They do this because the cost of CEO Focus comes back in profits many times over.
For smaller businesses (e.g., solopreneurs, minimal revenue, etc.), we make a commitment and investment to work with you at your pace and budget to get you to the next level. If starting with the “Business Essentials” Program and/or Executive Coaching makes more sense initially, we understand that and will guide you to set and reach a preliminary milestone based on your commitment and resources.
